VOLUNTEER EFFORTS OF NOTE:
OPERATION A.C.T IN MAR 2007
"Thank You" just doesn't capture my appreciation, or that of the Groundwork Board, for the hard work and the enthusiasm Troop 835 brought to the Operation A.C.T. Clean-up on March 31, 2007. Please convey our appreciation to the following individuals for their efforts:
Chaz Sanders, Michael Fremming, Jeremy Dickie, Heather Dickie, Oliver Ness, Jason Tarlton + John Tarlton, Bryce Halloran, Whit Lippencott, and Ryan True
Based upon my rough calculation, we removed between 2 and 3 tons of trash from the Rochester Lakes area of the Great Trinity Forest.
Operation A.C.T. is a prime example of what a group of interested and dedicated citizens can do to "leave a place in better shape than they found it". Please accept our sincerest thanks for helping us improve the Great Trinity Forest for the citizens of Dallas. You can be assured that this will be an ongoing mission for Groundwork Dallas.
Sincerely,
Ron Kovatis
Executive Director, Groundwork Dallas

On October 29, 2007Troop 835 provided 104 hours by 13 Scouts, 7 adults leaders, and 6 adults at the Breast Cancer 3-Day, loading and unloading equipment and supplies for the walkers. The Scouts witnessed the energy, dedication and good nature of the walkers, particularly of those who are breast cancer patients and survivors. The event benefited The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Special thanks to Scouter David Silver for all his hard work arranging and organizing the volunteers.
OPERATION KINDNESS AND LOST PAWS ANIMAL SHELTERS
Troop 835 worked at two retail stores over the course of 9 days providing 86 hours by 17 Scouts, 5 adults leaders, and 4 adults to help with the care and adoption of homeless pets being cared by two animal shelters. $1,093 for Operation Kindness and $235 for Lost Paws was raised in cash and gift cards and used to purchase needed supplies for the shelters.
Special thanks to Scout Cameron McVay for all his hard work organizing the volunteers and to Scouter David Silver for arranging the project.
